I was at Abbott Laboratories for 3 months as a regulatory affairs and quality assurance intern. Unfortunately, the internship started around the circuit breaker period, which meant that we were confined to work from home duties. Nonetheless, I had a very enriching experience with the company as the people at Abbott were very friendly and nurturing, especially my preceptor who gave me support and guidance throughout the internship. During this internship, I had the opportunity to assist the regulatory department with various submissions to Health Sciences Authority (HSA), including new drug submissions (to register a new drug in Singapore) and variation submissions (to make changes to a registered drug product in Singapore). Many of these require input from other departments as well, which trained my teamwork skills. Besides regulatory work, I also dabbled into quality assurance-related work and even sales and marketing. I really enjoyed the holistic experience and am thankful to have spent 3 months with them.
