Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program (Classroom and Asynchronous e-learning)
NUS Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is the first licensed partner of American Pharmacists Association (APhA) in Singapore to conduct the Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery Training Program.

APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate training program is based on national educational standards for immunization training from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This practice-based curriculum represents a fusion of science and clinical pharmacy. The program, which emphasizes a health care team approach, seeks to foster the implementation of interventions that will promote disease prevention and public health. The purpose of this certificate training program is to prepare pharmacists with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to provide immunization services to patients across the life span.
The goals of this program are to:
Educate pharmacists about:
- The impact of vaccines on public health.
- Pharmacists’ roles in immunization.
- Immunologic principles of vaccine development and immunizations.
- Vaccine-preventable diseases and the vaccines used to prevent them.
- Strategies for improving immunization rates.
- Requirements for pharmacists who provide immunization services.
Prepare pharmacists to:
- Read an immunization schedule and identify appropriate vaccines for individuals across the life span and with special needs.
- Educate patients about the benefits of vaccines and dispel myths about vaccines.
- Safely administer vaccines to patients via subcutaneous, intramuscular, intranasal, and intradermal routes.
- Operate an immunization service in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Partner with immunization stakeholders to promote immunizations and the immunization neighborhood.
Direct pharmacists to resources necessary to:
- Promote public health through immunizations.
- Access regularly updated information about vaccines and their use.
- Effectively communicate with patients and other stakeholders about resources.
- Operate an immunization service in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

This one-time certification training program is taught in a blended learning format.
Part 1: Self-study (approximately 12 hours)
- Pre-course assessment
- 23 core learning modules, 6 ancillary modules and individual module tests
- OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Training

- Safe needle usage
Part 2: Live seminar (8 hours)
Learners are required to attend the full duration of the live seminar in person. Successful completion of the injection technique assessment is required in order to gain access to the post-live seminar activities.- Injection technique assessment

- Minimum of 2 intramuscular injections (IM) in the deltoid muscle
- 1 subcutaneous (SC) injection in the posterolateral upper arm
Part 3: Post-live seminar (approximately 1 hour)
Learners should complete the following requirements within 2 weeks after the live seminar.- Final assessment (online)

Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery Certificate of Achievement
All learners will be awarded with a Certificate of Achievement upon successful completion of the training program. The training associated with this certificate is based on current immunization standards and recommendations at the time of training. It is the responsibility of the immunizer to engage in continuing professional development and education to meet the immunization standards and practice expectations set forth by the immunizer’s own institution. This certificate does not expire, but immunizers should maintain and have accessible proof of the following:
1) Continuing professional development in the area of immunizations
2) Updated CPR certification (or BCLS), and
3) Updated OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Training

1. Who can attend this program?
Currently, the program is only open to Registered Pharmacist in Singapore. Learners must also fulfill the following before attending the live seminar.
- Hepatitis B Antibody ≥10 mIU/mL or Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination
- Completion of pre-seminar activities
2. Who is eligible for the SkillsFuture Singapore funding?
You must fulfil the following criteria:
- either be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident of Singapore and;
- at least 21 years old and;
- pass all examinations /assessments;
- completed full course fee payment within 120 days timeline.
3. I am sponsored by my company for the program, am I still eligible for the SkillsFuture Singapore funding?

4. I wish to send some of my staff for the upcoming program, can I reserve slots for them?
Registration is by first come first served basis. Application start date will be announced at least 1 month before.
5. What if I am unable to attend the live seminar last minute?
Your self-study completion will be valid for 1 year from the date of enrolment. You can join the next live seminar (if available) within the period.
6. Will I receive a certificate for the course?
A Certificate of Achievement will be issued upon completion of the full course – home study, live seminar and post-live seminar activities.
7. Will I receive CPE points for attending the course?
This program is approved for 20 contact hours of CPE credit.
