The Singapore Food Toxicology Network, founded by representatives from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Institute of Food Science & Technology (SIFST), Singapore Food Agency (SFA), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and the Future Food Alliance (FFA), advances food toxicology through scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange. The conference focuses on New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) for toxicity assessment and food safety. NAMs offer modern alternatives to animal testing with improved prediction of human safety, while NGRA provides an integrated approach to safety assessment through exposure science and hazard identification.

We are delighted to share that YONG Han Ming, Research Assistant under Prof Eric Chan, was awarded 2nd Runner-Up for his poster titled Human Embryonic Stem Cell-Derived Cardiomyocytes as a Platform to Evaluate the Cardioelectrophysiological Effects of Glycogen Synthase Kinase-3 (GSK-3) Inhibitors Used in Cultured Meat Production. The poster was co-authored by ZHU Xingyu, SOH Yee Kiat, and Dr Jeremy Pang Kah Sheng (ASTAR collaborator), under the supervision of Dr Soh Boon Seng (ASTAR collaborator) and Prof Eric Chan Chun Yong.

Congrats to Han Ming, Eric and team for this outstanding award. Well done!
