Welcoming back familiar faces – Mr Yap Chien and Dr Donavan Neo
Our alumni go on to pursue different career pathways after their graduation and there is a small group of them who choose the academia. Most recently, we’ve seen two young alumni who return to the department to nurture the next generation.
Meet Mr YAP Chien,
“Hello, I am Yap Chien, and I recently joined as a Teaching Assistant (Pharmacy Practice). I graduated from the Department of Pharmacy, National University of Singapore in 2017. After completing my pre-registration training in a tertiary hospital, I practiced as a clinical pharmacist for 4 years. I will be assisting in the courses under the B. Pharm. (Hons) programme and I look forward to the exciting times ahead!”
Meet Dr Donavan NEO,
“Hi, I am Donavan and I have returned to the Department of Pharmacy in the Educator Track. I received a BSc (Pharmacy) from this department, joined as a Teaching Assistant for a year, and embarked on postgraduate studies. I have since graduated with a PhD in Chemical Biology from Harvard University where I worked on developing new genetic tools and drug discovery paradigms for Mycobacterium abscessus. My professional interests are in the fields of infectious diseases, antibiotic drug discovery and resistance, chemical biology, molecular biology, and of course, guiding new students on their learning journey to be future scientists and healthcare professionals.”
