W in W-interhouse stands for Welfare and Win!
On the 6th of January 2023, NUS Pharmaceutical Society (NUSPS)’s 6th Inter-House Event, W-interhouse, took place in LT31 at S16 from 1 – 5 pm. With the removal of COVID-19 restrictions, it was the perfect opportunity for a larger-scale event that involved all 5 Houses, for students to come together to bond, have fun and get to know one another. Hence, W-interhouse was the first large-scale, physical Inter-House Event (IHE) without COVID-19 restrictions in 2 years! The 5 Houses of NUSPS (Fleming, Galen, Pasteur, Procter, and Scheele) gathered for an exciting afternoon of fun and games, featuring Secret Santa and NUSPS Welfare’s own adaptation of the classic Family Feud gameshow. The event was planned with the aim to ignite the House spirit amongst House members, foster a sense of belonging to the Houses, and provide an avenue for unwinding and relaxation amongst students in NUSPS before the new semester started.

Riding on the festivity in the season of Christmas and New Year, W-interhouse included a “Secret Santa” activity where participants exchanged gifts with one another. Through this exchange of gifts, students encouraged one another and fostered stronger bonds with students from different Houses. This initiative fostered a nice and welcoming “back to school” start for the upcoming semester 2! Next, inspired by the popularity of board game cafes, tabletop games were provided, such as Jungle Speed, Sushi Go and Exploding Kittens. This further provided students with opportunities to interact with people from different houses and enabled them to bond over a slow and relaxing game session.
After a few rounds of icebreakers, students broke off into their Houses and our W-interhouse started in earnest. The E-sports tournament had participants facing off against each other in the popular mobile games Brawl Stars and Stumble Guys. Students formed teams with their friends to represent their Houses and compete fiercely to see who was the ultimate BRAWLER! Furthermore, a popular and first-time-player friendly game Stumble Guys was introduced for a large crowd to have fun together. The games were streamed on the big projector screen, allowing everyone to spectate and cheer on their friends and their Houses.

The highlight of the W-interhouse event – the Gameshow, featured NUSPS Welfare’s adaptation of the classic Family Feud and a rapid-fire round of trivia on Kahoot. The constant ringing of the bells from every House to fight for the chance to answer during Family Feud was a testament to this exhilarating segment!
Last but not least, congratulations to the winning house – Procter! It was indeed a hard-fought victory with Fleming and Scheele trailing closely behind. A very big thank you to all the participants for your enthusiasm and active participation, as well as the organizing committee who executed this event smoothly. We hope everyone enjoyed the games as much as we did, and will continue to join us for future events! Here is wishing everyone a fruitful and fulfilling Semester 2!
