Congratulations to Assistant Professor Brandon Morinaka and his team, whose article entitled “Genome-Mining-Based Discovery of the Cyclic Peptide Tolypamide and TolF, a Ser/Thr Forward O-Prenyltransferase” is published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition online on Feb 2021.

In the face of new normal of teaching and learning practices, Prof Christina Chai designed a “Monopoly” game where students could play in class and online concurrently. Read more in this blogpost where she shared the details of it and the overall experience.

Professor Eric Chan is featured on The Straits Times for his research on the metabolism of synthetic cannabinoids, also known as new psychoactive substances (NPS) and the identification of its metabolites, which are taken as biomarkers to detect drug consumption. This research has resulted in a new way to detect illicit drugs in urine samples and it is currently being used by the Health Sciences Authority.

Dr October Sessions was featured for his pathogen research “Bringing full viral genome sequencing to a hospital near you” in the latest issue of “Advances in Science” publication by NUS, Faculty of Science.

Congratulations to Dr Wang Aiwen on receiving the Outstanding Young Educator Award at the AM•EI Golden Apple Award 2020. The award recognises outstanding teaching potentials among young educators in SingHealth and Duke-NUS who are dedicated in educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Congratulations to Dr Tan Chong Teik and Associate Professor Victor Yu, whose work on defining the role of MOAP-1 as a negative regulator of Keap-1-Nrf-2 anti-oxidative stress signalling via disruption of p62 bodies was published in EMBO Reports.

The University recently received a gift that will provide bursaries for one Pharmacy student and one Nursing student each year.
