The NIRBA RNA Science Conference 2026, held on 22–23 October 2026 at the National Gallery Singapore, brought together leading researchers, scientists and students from around the world to exchange knowledge and explore advances in RNA biology, disease research, RNA technologies and therapeutic applications. Organised under Singapore’s National Initiative for RNA Biology and Its Applications (NIRBA), the conference fostered scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance RNA research.

We are delighted to congratulate Mr Brandon Kee, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr Tan Kar Tong from the NUS Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, on winning the Best Poster Award (Second Prize) at the conference.

His award-winning poster, titled “Characterising Ancestry-Associated rDNA Haplotype Diversity in the Human Pangenome,” was supported by the valuable contributions of three NUS undergraduate students: Cheng Qingyuan (Year 3, Pharmaceutical Science), Joshua Law Bing Han (Year 3, Physics), and Gabrielle Marcya Joan (Year 3, Life Sciences).

Congratulations to Dr Tan Kar Tong, Brandon, and the entire research team on this achievement! We wish them continued success in their research endeavours.
