Asst Prof Liu Boxiang received the Young Scientist Award (YSA) under the President’s Science and Technology Awards (2026) for developing Artificial Intelligence (AI)  and bioinformatics tools that help scientists identify the genes that contribute to complex diseases such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders and neurological conditions. By uncovering how genetic differences influence disease, especially in underrepresented Asian populations, his research paves the way for more precise, personalised treatments tailored to an individual’s genetic make-up.

This prestigious recognition reflects Dr Liu’s outstanding contributions to scientific research and innovation, as well as his commitment to advancing precision medicine through cutting-edge computational and genomic approaches.
