Reconnecting with Pharmily one brick at a time
After 2 years of celebrating Kent Ridge Alumni Family Day online, it was a delightful occasion to meet the Pharmily in-person this year! In line with the theme “Welcome Back!”, the Department organised a “Pixel Art with Bricks” workshop which gathered more than 40 alumni and their family members on 13 August (Saturday). The workshop was led by fellow NUS alumnus Mr Jeffrey Kong, brick artist at Artisan Bricks.

The workshop started with participants selecting their baseplate (“canvas”) and bricks (“paint”), and conceptualising their pixel art. Just within the span of an hour, the blank canvases soon transformed into beautiful creations with a story to be told for each of them. We discovered that many of our alumni are animal lovers who created beautiful art pieces of cats, dogs, birds and unicorns, just to name a few. Some participants worked in teams and created four artworks of a coherent theme such as Christmas and their favourite animals. We were surprised by a few alumni who thought-out-of-the-box with their designs such as working on both sides of the canvas.
Overall, it was a splendid afternoon spent with our alumni and their family members. Kudos to everyone for making the workshop a fun experience! Look out for more events on our social media accounts (@nuspharmacydept) and events page, and we look forward to see you again in the near future!
