Highlights at the Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 7th Asia Pacific Conference

Department of Pharmacy made a splash at the recently concluded International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 7th Asia Pacific Conference held in Suntec City , Singapore, from 3 to 6 Sep 2016. This meeting was attended by more than 1,300 participants from 50 countries and 750 abstracts were received. A/P Chui Wai Keung was the event co-chair.

A/P Koh Hwee Ling was an invited speaker at a forum titled “Integrating Evidence-Based and Cost-Effective Complementary and Alternative Medicine into the Health Care Systems in Asia” while Dr Wee Hwee Lin was an invited speaker at a forum titled “Big Data in Asia-Pacific – A Valuable Resource for Better Health Care Decisions: Experiences and Lessons Learned in Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan”. In addition, Dr Wee conducted a pre-conference Short Course, participated to speak at an issue panel, and organized two workshops. Our PhD students under the supervision of A/P Alexandre Chan, Dr Ong Pei Shi and Dr Wee Hwee Lin were also actively involved in the conference, giving a total of 5 oral presentations and 7 poster presentations.

It was awards galore for our department. A/P Chui Wai Keung received the ISPOR Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the successful organization of the conference. Our students and alumni swept 4 out of 6 podium research presentation awards.

The three winners were current PhD, former PhD and former Final Year Project students in Dr Wee Hwee Lin’s research group. While one of the winners is current PhD student under A/P Alexandre Chan’s research group. Details of the winners below:
