Celebrating Excellence and Reconnection: The 2026 MPST & PhD Graduation and Alumni Homecoming Dinner

A Toast to Success: Celebrating the newest members of our global pharmaceutical professional network.

On 21 April, the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences hosted a special evening of celebration and reconnection: the 2026 MPST & PhD Graduation and Alumni Homecoming Dinner. This gathering served as both a formal send-off for our newest graduates and a warm “homecoming” for our alumni, reinforcing the lifelong bond between the Department and its growing professional community.

Opening the evening: Our Head of Department, Prof Giorgia Pastorin, welcoming the “Pharmily” back for this milestone celebration.

The evening was also a significant occasion to recognize the collaborative ecosystem that sustains our programmes. We were pleased to host representatives from industry partners, including Roquette, A*STAR Skin Research Lab, Clinuvel Group, Syndesia, and Pfizer. Their presence was a sincere expression of our appreciation for their invaluable and ongoing support of the MPST programme and their commitment to our students’ professional development.

Honoring Excellence: Recognition of our instructor and teaching assistant’s outstanding contributions to teaching excellence.

The heart of the programme featured a series of heartfelt reflections. Mr Somok Sur, an MPST alumnus and current NUS PhD student, shared insights from his ongoing professional and academic journey, while Mr Liu Yuchen and Ms Soraya Moghtader Mojdehi from the MPST Class of 2026 reflected on their transformative experiences within the programme.

Reflections: These shared stories highlighted the programme’s growth and the strong sense of identity shared by our graduates.

The celebration concluded with a celebratory toast, marking a successful homecoming and the official entry of our newest graduates into the global pharmaceutical network. As the MPST programme approaches its 20th anniversary next year, this occasion also serves as a meaningful reminder of two decades of excellence in training pharmaceutical scientists and industry professionals. We look forward to the continued contributions of our MPST and PhD graduates as they carry the Department’s legacy forward into the future of pharmaceutical sciences and technology.

Prof Bao Weizhu, Vice Dean (Graduate Studies) at the Faculty of Science, delivering the closing address and inspiring the graduating cohort for the journey ahead.
