Adjunct faculty: From industry to academia

When we mention faculty staff, we often think of the full-time faculty first. However, there is also an important group of adjunct faculty that we should not forget. These staff are experts in their field who bring in their wealth of practical experience to enrich the learning experience for our students. Let’s get to know two adjunct senior lecturers who have recently joined the Department.

Meet Dr Parijat Kanaujia,

Dr. Parijat obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar (MP) India in 2001. After completing his post-doctoral training at School of Pharmacy UCL London (2001-02) and Inserm U646 Angers France (2003-04), he joined as Head of NDDS division of Strides Arcolab Ltd. Bangalore in 2005. He joined A*STAR ICES, Singapore in 2008 and currently works as Senior Scientist of Formulation Technologies at the Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy and Environment in A*STAR, which develops technologies for the Pharmaceuticals and Specialty Chemicals industries. Dr. Parijat’s research interests include novel drug delivery systems, formulation of poorly soluble drugs using hot melt extrusion, nano-encapsulation of actives in novel biodegradable block co-polymers, topical drug delivery systems and drug delivery of nutraceuticals. 

Meet Ms Lee Hui Keng,

Ms Lee obtained her B.Sc. (Pharmacy) (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. She is currently the Director of Regulatory Legislation and the Covering Director of Complementary Health Products Branch at the Health Sciences Authority.

Ms Lee has been involved in various areas of regulatory work including medical advertisements regulation, clinical trials regulation and drug registration. Her interest is in the formulation of health products regulation policy and transposition to legislation, as well as related regulatory process and system development.
