The NUS Commencement ceremonies were back in full-scale this year and the Department celebrated with our graduands and their loved ones on 16 July 2022. It was a momentous occasion with faces beaming with joy everywhere. This year, we are heartened to see 9 Pharm.D., 9 Ph.D., 30 MPST, 2 MSc. 164 BSc. (Pharmacy) and 27 BSc. (Pharmaceutical Science) graduands complete their education milestone with the Department. Notably, we graduated the inaugural batch of Pharmaceutical Science students. The Class of 2022 had to adapt to ~2 years of learning amidst a global pandemic. Mr Joel Lim, valedictorian and a Pharmaceutical Science graduand shared, “It hasn’t been easy, and we know it will not get easier. Still, we can be heartened that our shared challenges have placed us in good stead to excel in our respective fields, and while we may not remember the PK equations, we definitely take away fond memories of the times we have shared as a cohort.”

The ceremony was also graced by guest speaker Mr Guillermo Frydman, Area Managing Director, Southeast Asia MedTech, Johnson & Johnson. When delivering his speech, he shared his views on the future of healthcare and urged the graduands to find a purpose for their future career. In closing, he emphasized that “purpose will motivate you to achieve things beyond your imagination, and your work will have long-lasting impact to healthcare and our society”.
